WHAT IS THE HSAC?    Bev tells it all to WPCM!

The Humane Society of Alamance County is a non-profit membership organization. We receive no financial assistance from state or federal agencies or from the Humane Society of the United States. For over a decade, we have provided our local residents with the only low-cost Spay/Neuter Program available in our county. Those wishing to use our program call us to arrange for an appointment at one of seven participating veterinary hospitals.

Champ, Rescued as a Pup

Education is a key effort of the HSAC. We strive to increase public awareness of pet owners' responsibilities through our quarterly newsletter, information booths at public events, and our website. Volunteers also conduct programs at local schools teaching young people about responsible pet care.

Since 2001, we have been able to rescue homeless or abused dogs and cats. The numbers of animals we save depends on funds we have available to cover the cost of rescue as well as volunteers willing to act as foster parents until permanent homes can be found. We are very fortunate to house some of our foster kitties at the Petsmart Luv-A-Pet Adoption Center.

How can I make a donation to the HSAC Foster Program?

Checks can be mailed to our address above. Please write "Friends of Champ" in the memo section of your check to let us know you are making a donation to defray the high medical costs of animal rescue. CHAMP is a happy dog but when he came to us as a homeless puppy, he needed surgery to correct a heart defect. Our community responded with overwhelming support. We were able to save Champ and he is healthy and active today.

To make a donation online, click the Donation button below. Be sure to indicate you are a "Friend of Champ"!
