HELP, JOIN, or VOLUNTEER

(OR DO ALL THREE!)

Help Us Help Animals...

Wondering how you can help the HSAC? Take a look at these needs and be sure to view our calendar as well.  We need volunteers at our events and fundraisers!  Everyone has something to give; donations, time, ideas or supplies!  Get involved in  a great cause and let us get to know you!  For more information, call (336)438-2023.

You can also spread the message by wearing one of our great looking t-shirts or carrying one of our umbrellas. To order, click HERE.   More than half the purchase price goes to help animals.  You can distribute brochures or newsletters, refer other folks to our website and encourage your friends and neighbors to spay or neuter their pets!

If you are not a member, please consider joining today. You will receive our quarterly newsletters and other special mailings. Any member in good standing (current membership dues paid) is considered a voting member of the HSAC.   The more members we have supporting us, the more needy animals we can help!

HSAC's Wish List

  • Photocopy paper and small envelopes.
  • Hav-a-heart traps.
  • A van to transport foster animals and equipment to adoption fairs,  to transport HSAC items to our events,   to pick up donated food and to transport animals to spay/neuter appointments when transportation is an issue with their owners.
  • Assistance with supplying and repairing doghouses. If you are handy with tools, we need you! We also need a person with a truck to pick up doghouses for repair and then deliver them to needy dogs. This would be a great project for a church or scout group.
  • A radio station who wants a great animal program!
  • Animal lovers from all over Alamance County  to give us a call and join!  Membership fees help pay for the care of our foster animals.
  • A lawyer to do some "pro-bone-o" work.
  • Dog Food Weight Circles  clipped from your Purina dog food bags and sent to us to help us feed needy animals in Alamance County. We receive rebates for Pro Plan, Purina One, Purina Dog Chow, Hi Pro and other participating Purina Dog Foods (excluding Beneful and Mainstay).   We receive the most points for Pro Plan Weight Circles.  (Heinz has discontinued the Homeless Homer program that was a source of revenue for us in the past.)

  • Dry dog food especially Purina Dog Chow and Puppy Chow.  Please send us Purina Dog Food Weight Circles to help us feed our foster dogs.
  • Canned dog food.
  • Outdoor dog kennels and runs, particularly 10x10x6 size.
  • Wire enclosed dog crates.
  • Puppy collars and medium size buckle style dog collars.
  • Six foot leashes, especially the heavier duty types, and flat buckle collars for larger dogs.
  • Dog houses, insulated plastic types.
  • Dog and cat beds.
  • Clean used comforters, sleeping bags or blankets for temporary dog beds/crate liners.
  • One and two story cat condos.
  • Cat toys including scratching toys  (hanging, posts, Alpine type and refills).
  • Dry and canned cat food.
  • Safety type cat collars.
  • Puppy toys and treats as well as dog chew toys for strong chewers.

* Donations. Our Foster Program veterinary expenses alone are astronomical. In addition to health checks, vaccinations and testing, our expenses often include care for injured or sick animals (not to mention food and supplies).  Your financial support enables us to continue giving all the animals coming through our program the medical attention they deserve and allow us to never euthanize a sick or injured animal due to lack of funds.

We are in need of dedicated, animal-loving folks to provide temporary foster homes!

Clean out your Closets!

Do you or your family have clothing that is too nice for a yard sale, but you no longer wear? Take it to Sandy's Consignment (or ask your preferred consignment shop to do this) and request that when your clothing sells, they issue a check to the HSAC. Please take good, dry-cleaned clothing in the season she's asking for. Please, no boys' or men's clothes. Designer or brand name items are preferred.
